You can now use your iPhone X in cold weather, thanks to iOS 11.1.2.Apple’s latest update fixes an problem that causes high-quality Retina HD displays to become unresponsive when it receives cold, as well as problems with live photos and video shooting.
iPhone X is the most up to date smartphone available on the market right now, and it doesn’t like getting cold. Early adopters have reported that their display doesn’t register touch input when they use it in cold temperatures. Apple acknowledged the trouble last week.
“We are aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment,” the company said. It also promised a fix, and now that’s available in iOS 11.1.2.
The update is available for iPhone and iPad — everything compatible with iOS 11. But the only changes Apple mentions in its release notes are a fix for the issue above, and another that “addresses an issue that could cause distortion in Live Photos and videos captured with iPhone X.”
