Is there an iPhone X Plus?
First, we must ask the question, is there an iPhone X Plus?! Releasing 2 versions – a regular and a plus model – has become an Apple tradition. Naturally, you may assume that as was the case with Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus – Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus – and finally iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus – naturally there must be an Apple iPhone X and apple iPhone X Plus… right?!
Well, actually the technical answer is no, there is not a plus size model of the iPhone X. The more accurate answer, though, is yes, there is an iPhone X Plus, but it is just called the iPhone X. Let me show you what I mean…
iPhone X Plus Vs iPhone 8 Plus: What’s bigger?
You’ll notice we said “iPhone X Plus” and not iPhone X. Well, that is because the new iPhone X is really more of a plus size model than a regular sized model.
So, the answer to which is bigger is… both. The iPhone X has a screen that is actually bigger than the iPhone 8 Plus screen, but the overall model size is smaller. That is because if the OLED edge to edge screen. That makes the iPhone X the best of both worlds.
iPhone X Plus Vs iPhone 8: Size Comparison
- iPhone X – 5.8-inch True Tone OLED, 2436 x 1125 pixels (458 ppi)
- iPhone 8 Plus – 5.5-inch True Tone LCD, 1920 x 1080 pixels (401 ppi)
Indeed, the iPhone X edges out the iPhone 8 Plus in the battle of the screen sizes and proves it is indeed a “plus” size model.
iPhone X Plus Vs iPhone 8: Screen Size Comparison
- iPhone X – 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm (5.65 x 2.79 x 0.30 in), 174g (6.14 oz)
- iPhone 8 Plus – 158.4 x 78.1 x 7.5 mm (6.28 x 3.07 x 0.32 in), 202g (7.13 oz)
As we said, while the screen of the iPhone X is in fact bigger, the body of the phone itself is conveniently smaller. Therefore, the question really isn’t which is bigger, it is what is bigger – and most importantly, it is which has a higher screen to body ration:
iPhone X Plus Vs iPhone 8: Which has a better screen-to-body ration
- iPhone X = 83% screen-to-body ratio
- iPhone 8 Plus = 68% screen-to-body ratio
That means that the iPhone X has a 22% better screen-to-body ratio! Dang! That is pretty awesome!
In conclusion, no, technically there is not an iPhone X Plus, BUT you could say there is an iPhone X Plus, but we just call it a regular iPhone X 🙂
